Tony Brezina - (Guitar, Saxophone, Vocals)

Tony plays the guitar and saxophone, and also sings back up and lead vocals in the Mill Street Band.  He is currently a project manager for his father's custom home building company called "Brezina Homes, INC."  They are based out of Ankeny, IA and build custom homes around the Des Moines area.  Tony is also a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in the Des Moines area.  Before moving to Des Moines, Tony was the band director for the Lake Mills Community Schools in Lake Mills, Iowa.  He spent 4 years teaching the instrumental music program and also giving private saxophone lessons to numerous students.  Some of the music influences of Tony includes that of Ray Charles, the musical "Rent", Miles Davis, and Stravinsky (yeah, I know, it is quite a mix).  The musicians who have influenced him the most with guitar would be Eric Clapton, my college roomate Ryan Kuhl (who got me playing guitar), and fellow member of the Mill Street Band Nate Sletten.  Nate, how does it feel to be up there with Eric Clapton:)  Tony enjoys spending time with his three boys Aiden, Preston and Tate, and his precious little girl Jovie.

John Butz - (Bass Guitar, Vocals)

John plays the bass guitar and sings some background and lead vocals for the Mill Street Band.  He has been playing bass guitar for 14 years and is self-taught.  John has an extensive music collection and counts U2, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Hootie and the Blowfish among his favorites.  James Jamerson and his classic Motown grooves are John's bass guitar inspirations.  John is a 2nd grade teacher in the Des Moines Public School district.  In his spare time, John likes to spend time with his wife Laurie and their kids Jacob, a future drummer, and Jordyn.

Mindy Sletten - (Keyboard, Trumpet, Vocals)

Mindy plays keyboard, trumpet, and sings lead and backup vocals for Mill Street Band.  She also plays the occasional “egg” shaker and tambourine!  She has a degree in music from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where she studied classical piano music and sang in the Augustana Choir.  Mindy currently works for Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, IA as their choir accompanist.  Her musical inspirations are just about anything she finds on the radio including country, pop, rock, punk, and classic oldies.  She loves the eclectic approach to music.  Mindy just loves the opportunity to play with the other Mill Streeters to satisfy her need for musical outlet!  She also enjoys a good book, spending time with family, catching up with old friends, and relaxing with Nathan, her husband and fellow band-member and playing with their daughters Addy and Ella!

Nate Sletten - (Lead Guitar, Vocals)

Nate plays lead guitar and sings lead and background vocals for the Mill Street Band.  “Mr. Sletten” is currently the 6-12 band director in Earlham, IA.  He also teaches several private students guitar, saxophone, and drums.  His musical life started when his parents bought him a guitar on his 6th birthday.  When he was in 5th grade, his teacher Mr. John Butz (with the permission of Nate’s parents) gave him his very first Jimi Hendrix CD.  Other influences include Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson, and all of the Mill Street Band Members.  His favorite part of being in the band is performing with four other talented musicians who really enjoy “good” music.  Nate enjoys spending time with his wife Mindy (also a Mill Street Band Member), playing with his daughters Addy and Ella and their families back in Lake Mills, IA.

 Mark Timmerman - (Drums, Vocals)

Mark plays the drums and sings an occasional background vocal for the Mill Street Band.  A self-taught drummer, the musicians that had the most profound impact on Mark's drumming style include Peter Criss, Tommy Lee, Stewart Copeland, P.H. Naffah, and Chad Smith.
The music and bands that inspired include Kiss, Motley Crue, The Refreshments and a great band from Britt, Iowa called Amber Wave, who showed that great musicians are real people who live in your own back yard.   Heavy rotation on the ipod currently includes Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Marvelous 3, Butch Walker, and O.A.R.  Mark is an administrator for the Indianola Community School District when not daydreaming about being a rock star.  He loves to spend time with his beautiful wife Kathy and their two boys, Connor and Harper.
